derek John Davis is a hero, man. This music is SO IMPORTANT. And the fact that he does it on a Yamaha MTX4 (my 4-track of choice also) makes it even better. i am a one-man band, and i'm telling you, it ain't easy making this stuff with just 4 tracks. but that very limitation means your songs have to ne the shit, right? John's songs are absolutely genius, and i have nothing but respect for him in all of his endeavors. Armstrong’s voice reminds me of Sugar and track one fits comfortably in that realm, but there's more to this band than throwback. Prolific bandmate Davis compliments with performances and songwriting that differ enough to elevate the sound without creating contrast that disrupts the continuity of so many great records with two strong writers.
