derek i’m a huge fan of John Davis. just a brilliant, beautiful musical mind. i am also a home recordist and multi-instrumentalist, so i am quite partial to his 4-track home recordings. Drones Over Donelson is one of my favorite collections of music of all time. but you can’t go wrong with anything he’s made available. i also really dig his cover of The Jesus and Mary Chain’s “Never Understand”. wish it was still available to stream. but yeah, go John!!!! Favorite track: Too Fucked To Move (Feeling Like I Do).

Mike D. nothing cooler than raw superdrag songs. Favorite track: Relocate My Satellites.

Al Frazier I still think Feeling Like I Do is one of the finest pop/rock songs I have ever heard. Its honesty and earnestness reminds me of the way a great Afghan Whigs song can make me feel confessional. Favorite track: Too Fucked To Move (Feeling Like I Do).

about

In the Valley Of Dying Stars & Last Call For Vitriol demos presented in chronological order, to the best of my knowledge. 1-25-98 is the only date noted on any of the j-cards. During this period it was common for songs to go straight onto the 8-track with the full band, bypassing the 4-track stage altogether.

Dedicated to the memory of Josh Deutsch, who, even when the major label system collapsed under the weight of its own tumescence, came up smelling like a rose.
